Dr. Jose A. Plaza is a Professor of Pathology and Dermatology and the Director of Dermatopathology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He also serves as the Medical Director of the dermatopathology laboratory. Dr. Plaza completed his Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center and served as a chief resident in 2004-2006. He subsequently completed fellowships training in surgical pathology and dermatopathology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and the MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX, respectively. He is board certified by the American Board of Pathology and Dermatology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, and Dermatopathology. Dr. Plaza served as a Director of Dermatopathology at the Medical College of Wisconsin from 2008 to 2015. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, has served as a peer reviewer on many journals of the field and is on one editorial board, has written several chapters in pathology, dermatopathology and dermatology books and has authored four textbooks in dermatopathology. His area of expertise includes pigmented skin lesions, adnexal skin neoplasms and immunohistochemistry in cutaneous tumors.
